Gracious hospitality....

The Bethesda offered cool and tranquil respite in the heat of the Karoo. Gracious rooms with high ceilings and fans, tastefully decorated, where even the smallest detail was not overlooked. Fine white linen and towels together with high end toiletries in the bathrooms, ensured an indulgent and luxurious stay.

 

The hosts were friendly and accommodating and invited us to share in their afternoon gathering of friends under the willow tree, where we were offered wine, gin and snacks, followed by a high tea around their dining room table.

Breakfast was hearty, offering a cold buffet, cereals, fresh fruit juices as well as hot offerings of eggs and bacon and my favourite, croissants, warm bread, butter and homemade preserve. For us no breakfast is complete without good and aromatic coffee, which was plentiful.

 

A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Special thanks to Carla and Ludolf for making us feel so comfortable.

Best accommodations in NB: large room, deep bath, crisp linen, big white towels, fantastic hosts. Just the atmosphere required after a long and tiring trip.

What a beautiful town & friendly people. The Bethesda is a stylish establishment with 5 star treatment from Ludolf & Carla the hosts. Brunos restaurant is on the premises and serves the best pizzas in a great atmosphere! Breakfast was a special treat and personally served by our hosts.Would recommend without hesitation!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay with Carla and Ludolf at The Bethesda. They were such great hosts in every way. Carla gave us wonderful information to explore the Dorp and surrounding areas. What a splendid place to spend a few days.

Luxury in the Karoo

 

This elegant guesthouse was the perfect oasis to escape from city life. The historic building is surrounded with green, lush gardens. The house is filled with beautiful décor, objects and furniture. We loved our beautiful en-suite bedroom with its calm colours, wooden floors, outside seating and massive bath and shower. The quality linen, mattress and towels and bath products ensured a blissed and blessed in-room experience. We have fond memories of breakfast served in the dining room whilst it rained outside. The facilities were five star and we were reluctant to leave.

Stylish and homely Karoo charm

 

We stayed at The Bethesda for one night on our way down to the coast together with our 2 teenagers. As soon as we arrived we realized that The Bethesda is not just your usual on route stop over. The rooms are tastefully decorated and small personall touches made our stay very comfortable and relaxed. The hosts, Carla and Ludolf, created a homely and relaxed atmosphere with their friendliness and made us feel welcome and at home with small gestures like ice cold hand towels and home made ice tea on arrival . The pizzas they serve in their pizzeria next door are by far the best we have eaten! Breakfast was once again a treat and we were sad to leave after only 1 night at their beautiful place. We would definitely be back, but will make a holiday of our next visit and spend more time at the beautiful and charming The Bethesda to explore the little Karoo village of Nieu Bethesda and the abundance of interesting places it has to offer.

The Bethesda must surely be the most sought after place to stay in Nieu Bethesda!

 Liked • The Bethesda is an absolute gem in one of the Karoo's most precious towns. Carla and Ludolf are delightful hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The house is stylishly decorated, the beds and bathrooms are just perfect and breakfast was delicious! They also run Bruno's, the pizza restaurant next door and I can highly recommend an anchovy and olive pizza with a glass of red wine under the Karoo stars. We would have stayed another night if they hadn't been fully booked!

 

Disliked • Absolutely nothing. I could move in tomorrow!
